Is it gonna be free, how much will it cost, when will it come out? And if it does cost money IT SHOULD BE FREE TO THE BZU COMMUNITY And were can I find the beta? I remember downloading it somewhere but I can't find it again.

It could be years before this game is out in all of its intended glory. We're developing a game that is at least as large in scope as BZ2, which was estimated to cost somewhere around $1 million to develop, yet we're financing the project mostly with our own labor. It took a bit more than 2 years to get where we are today, and I have the feeling we're about halfway there. So I would predict the release in mid-2011. We will explore some sort of release via Steam and similar distribution services. I forsee a price between $15 and $20. It will depend on prices for similar offerings. If up to me I'd like to have a special offer for BZ2 fans, $5 off or something. Check the BZ2 site in the OT forum for the topic regarding the beta (gotta make you dig a little ).

I hope the game won't be a Steam exclusive and that it won't require Steam to actually run, Steam is possibly the worst model for selling digital content online, I despise it with a passion.

LOL if it is steam, don't worry I can make a stand alone version and chances are, I will cause I don't always play my steam games at my house. But chances are, you won't be able to play online if this game has the feature to play online.

No I won't let it be a Steam exclusive. Steam has its many fans as well as detractors, so we'd be wise to seek distribution through it. We'd also be wise to distribute it directly ourselves, in addition to other channels. We'll want to see what is working best for other indies. For example, World of Goo is distributed through the developers, Steam, Wii, store shelves, and a few other means. I seriously doubt we'll be able to target the Wii and other consoles though.

I'll be looking for ways to use online play as the purchase incentive, and make it difficult to hack around it. There's always a way around such things, but making it a royal pain to hack or pirate the online aspect will be enough for me.

Not sure if you misunderstood, but I don't think we'll see an X-Box 360 version, although I'll certainly explore such a possibility if it presents itself.
I've sent you a PM with the link to the beta. We're keeping it sorta under wraps, bot only sorta.

I'd love for the game to be free, but if the "beta" is any hint as to what the full game will be like, it's worth $60.
I've always wanted to see BZ1 on the Xbox arcade... I think it would work well, and I think this would too... but it would likely be a ton of work.

Hey thanks for that complement . Boosts like that really help us to move on. We probably shouldn't go over $20, being an indie game that hopes to attract an audience. We're a long way off from such decisions though. In mid-2011, who knows what games will be like. Maybe we will be behind the curve in visuals, but we'll do our darndest to make the gameplay the main star.

nope we have loads more variety planned, 3 classes of ATV per team - light , medium and heavy, we will also have light and heavy air units. most of the units etc. featured in the demo are being redesigned or replaced altogether for the final game.
