Have no fear, development is still going strong.  New features include:
  • Up to 4 switchable weapon slots, and possibilities for complex firing apparatus such as banks of missile tubes.  The apparatus geometry depends on the weapon, so it may change when you get a weapon upgrade.
  • All vehicles can be configured to carry up to 4 cargo items (most will only support 1), which can be diverse objects such as independent turrets.  Imagine a flying contraption with 4 independent turrets invading a base.
  • Boat class that can carry vehicles on its deck, and can have turret cargo attached.
  • Visible countdown timer (via script functions)
  • Sky-box support
  • Fine detail-enhancing texture for the terrain, reduces or eliminates apparent fuzziness of layer textures.
  • UNDO/REDO for nearly all editor actions.
  • Added another distinct weed/grass layer for a total of 3.
  • Support for more rich and diverse particle effects and trails.
  • Mini-map and Maxi-map radar modes.  The maxi-map mode is full-screen with pan and zoom, and command control of units.  It is similar in usage to BZ2 relay bunker view, but with radar blips, and the zoom allows easy management of a large area.  Directing activities at any area of the map is a breeze.

A lot of less conspicuous work has been done as well, and new features are in the works.  I may release a patch to the 0.2 beta in a month or 2.

I'm sold.

If I can do that in this game, I could not possibly resist making a mod for it!!!

Yeah PR and showboating are not our strong suit at the moment.  We should work on improving that.  I see some budding indie developers making weak 2D games, but get lots of attention and feedback by putting an attitude out there.  One example is at: http://jforcegames.com/blog/index.php?special=home.

Teams like this are documenting their progress and meetings on video, and are reaching out to prospective future customers in other ways.  I would not necessarily conduct myself as they do, but it's still worthwhile to evaluate their methods and see what's working for them.

I would feel much better if there was a larger crowd visiting our forums and showing anticipation.  I would not want to resort to cheap methods of drawing attention though.
