What types of vehicles overall will there be in MAD? So far we've seen tank-like vehicles and aircraft, but what about walkers and hovertanks, ships, etc?

Also, what weaponry will the factions in the game have?

currently we have wheeled vehicles , planes and helicopters, we will probably be adding hover units to the list aswell, we are also planning on adding pilots but I dunno about walkers that might be getting a bit too ambitious.

I'm not sure about the weaponary, it's not something we've looked into in any great detail yet, at the moment all we have is basic cannon and gun type weapons but I expect this to change at some point.

Ah. Perhaps a faction-specific walker is in order? Tongue That would be interesting, faction specific technology.

I don't see walkers making the cut.  Personaly I think they're overrated, although I kinda liked the ominous appearnce of BZ1 Golems.  I simply have no motivation to do the programming necessary to add them, which means I probably shouldn't even consider trying.

I think walkers are rapidly becoming something of a cliche in video games they are starting to get a bit boring .....  Cheesy

I'm with BSer, they might look impressive but I can't see what practical role they'd play on a real world battlefield.

True, mechs are one of those things that if you really look at it then you can see how it can be redesigned so it is like a normal vehicles, just as powerful if not more so, cheaper to build, much easier to design, etc...

Now, if you started growing massive creature's to battle things on the field, different issue. Tongue

This is just a comment, but I think the coolest idea they did for a 'walker' style unit was in Halo II and III with the Covenant Scarab being used as a mobile command post for the battle.

Maybe in MAD II or MAD III we can introduce one....maybe like a Messarian command post as they are supposed to be advanced. <big grin>

Ah, but that Halo thing could still have been done better in a different form, that is the whole point...  The forms need to make logical sense.  If you have to ask "why" something is such a way, and there is no real explanation, probably need to change it...  And no, "it looks cool' is not a real explanation.
