Recently I have found my self... pretty bored, I haven't had homework in years (cause I get it done in class Tongue) so every day after I have lots of free time to just relax and watch TV. But it's my last year of school and I need 3 things...

1. Something to do...

2. 40 hours of community service/volunteer (all I have to do is scan a paper send it to you and you just got to fill in the chart with the amount of time worked and stuff and scan it and sent it back). This is so I can get my diploma.

3. I also need something I can put on my resume, Something that has proof and I can show them the work I did and stuff like that (I want to work in the gaming industry).

So I thought why not kill 3 birds with one stone Cheesy. So I want to volunteer my time to help you make this game. The thing I like most on games that I edit is making maps, I'm not so good at the campaign maps, mostly because I'm not the best with story's and stuff and how to show them... but I like to do stuff like IA and MP in Battlezone 2. All I need it to know what type of landscape your going for, how hard you want the map to be and what game type the map will be used for, also the what ever software you use to make the maps. I do sometimes add custom assets to the things I make, mostly textures, so you aren't seeing the same object/texture on other maps, to keep it a bit different. The things I may need a bit of help at first campaign mission, primarily the inside works of what makes missions progress (objectives and stuff like that). I don't think that will be to hard. And 3D animation, I'm not good at making things move smoothly but I can put objects in the game like buildings and other simple 3D objects.

But I definitely think I can help out with the maps.

Examples of maps I have done for Battlezone 2:

I guess u can never have too many DM and IA strat maps...you can easily design these in the beta if u don't mind that I'll be giving them a facelift at some stage. Final maps will generally be larger than beta maps, with less resolution on the terrain generally.

Because of the way we do roads and cliffs, MAD maps will likely be fairly flat generally.

I have no problem with face lifts... How does one open the editor in the beta, I'm looking through all of files, and I cant find an editor executable anywhere. Is it something in game that I have to do?

I think I found the maps, are they all pictures in C:\Program Files (x86)\M.A.D Beta 0.2\media\terrains folder? It looks like there is some more map stuff in here C:\Program Files (x86)\M.A.D Beta 0.2\media\instant? Is there a list of what the different files do. And am I going to have to edit the maps in in some something like photoshop.

Cheesy I just had a wonderful idea... I can make the maps using BZ2 editor and export the layers into pictures using ODL1Winter

To enable editor hold down the "e" key when launching map from shell. Winter terrain heightmaps from BZ2 should work fine. Use the paint slope commands to texture maps very quickly.

Cool I got it but I kind of have a major problem, I can't delete things :/ nor can I zoom in after pressing the minus key. Battlezone 2 has this problem with a lot of keys to, I had to go into some file and change some key codes to different keys so I could get into the editor and stuff. So far it's only this game and Battlezone that have this problem :/ it seems the rest of my games work fine with keys.

I like the way the editor can auto texture and it has a lot of features like health of units and stuff but I think i prefer the Battlezone 2 editor because it's more just clicking, I think I'll make the map terrain in Battlezone 2 and export it and then let MAD auto texture it and add vegetation.

EDIT: It seems that machines has the same problem (1998-1999 or something like that). It seems it is the old games that have the problem according to the internet. It has to do with keyboards getting more keys for functions, it also seems that it is mostly laptops to, but they do have less keys with more then one function on them. I believe Vsmit had the same problem if i remember correctly. if you are using an older method of binding keys to different things in game, maybe you should see about upgrading to a newer way. If this helps my laptop is an Acer Aspire 8930
